Burning Rock Off Road Park
Burning Rock Off-Road Park was opened in October 2008 as a cooperative effort of Beaver Coal Company and Raleigh County Commission to serve as an off road trail system for ATV’s, Dirt Bikes and Utility Vehicles. Shortly thereafter Raleigh County assigned the trail maintenance and Recreational Trails Grant funding over to the non-profit entity Citizens Conservation Corps of WV who continued to provide trail construction and maintenance services until December 2017. In the interim 9 years the trails and lodging/sales operations were conducted separately and under 2 separate leases (Management/Maintenance) as the maintenance and trail development were heavily grant subsidized. The management entity for the park changed several times over those years. In December 2017 several delays in grant reimbursements being released by WV Dept of Highways resulted in closure of the trail system and subsequent closure of the park entirely. After several site visits and a series of negotiations Burning Rock was leased to Rock Crawl Enterprises in May 2018 and the process began to allow access to full size vehicles to designated trails within the property. Currently there are approximately 150 miles of trails, 7 cabins, 12 full hook up rv sites and over 20 primitive campsites located on this lease.
